An excellent event for Shadwell Estate at the 2019 Royal Welsh Show and Aberdeen-Angus Summer National

23.07.2019

The Suffolk-based Shadwell Estate had a second consecutive successful event at the 2019 Royal Welsh Show, where they took home the Aberdeen-Angus breed championship last year with their senior bull Shadwell Ebenezer.

This year it was the turn of Shadwell Evolution T003 who took the male and breed championships at the Royal Welsh Show, also taking the top honours in the Aberdeen-Angus Summer National. The September 2017-born bull by Retties JFK out of Shadwell Evora has already seen some great success on this summer’s show circuit, adding the breed championship at the Royal Welsh Show to his championship winning showing at the Great Yorkshire Show just a few weeks back. A bull which we are sure to see a lot of in the coming years, this one was a standout in the ring for Mr Alistair Fraser of Newton of Idvies, who was the judge for the 2019 summer national event.

In the male section of the show, the reserve also came from Shadwell Estate in the shape of Shadwell Empire T004. Empire who is by Rawburn Black Hawk out of Shadwell Evora had previously came second in class to Shadwell Evolution before Evolution, Empire and Shadwell Pam U040, the day’s junior/yearling champion, took top honours in the group of three category, rounding off a great day for the Suffolk-based outfit in an event that they dominated.

In the female section of the show, Mr Fraser’s champion was the overall breed reserve Tofts Polly Perkins L777, multiply owned by Playfair Farms and Melview Farming. Female reserve was Donald Rankin’s Kilmaluag Lady Iris T220 in another impressive showing from Kilmaluag having taken the reserve breed championship at Yorkshire through Kilmaluag Lady Isobelle.
