£100 on offer for the highest priced dairy-beef Aberdeen-Angus calf in Welsh markets

12.09.2022

With increasing numbers of beef calves coming from the dairy sector, The Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society wants to recognise high-quality Aberdeen-Angus cross calves coming through markets from dairy herds using registered Aberdeen-Angus sires.

Therefore, the society is proudly awarding a rosette and £100 to the highest priced dairy-beef calf by a named Aberdeen-Angus sire weekly. Calves must be younger than 42 days on the day of sale and the prize money will be split between the calf buyer and calf producer. The sponsorship will see a total of £600 being awarded at each mart, split over a six-week period, starting on 12th September.

The marts involved are:

  • Monmouth, Southeast Wales
  • Whitland, Southwest Wales
  • Ruthin, North Wales
  • Carmarthen, South & West Wales
  • Newcastle Emlyn, West Coast
