There was a fantastic Show of Aberdeen-Angus at first Summer Show of the Year. The Summer Show season got off to a great start at North Somerset Show this week with a fantastic group of quality Aberdeen- Angus cattle, from four exhibitors, for Judge Clive Davies to look over.

Taking Male and Breed Champion Honours was “Melview Peter Preece S210” a March 2016 bull from Melview Farming which can be seen in the image above. This bull is sired by Tofts Datetime N125, and comes from the Polly Perkins cow family that is well established at Tofts and Melview. The Judge described him as “a young bull with great conformation and a huge future in front of him” Peter Preece is entered for the National at Royal Three Counties and the World Forum at the Royal Highland Show.

Standing Female and Reserve breed champion was a super yearling heifer from Andrew & Judith Denning’s Temple Herd, “Temple Roses S663” who judge Davies described as having “style to spare”. This Jan 2016 heifer is sired by Nightingale Defiance E264 and is another daughter of the Denning’s wonderful cow “Rawburn Rosebud H860”.

The show was a great exhibition of Aberdeen-Angus cattle and got Forum Year off to a great start in the South of England.
