Lady Ruth family continues to shine on winter show circuit

The Lady Ruth family from Richard and Carol Rettie continued its winning streak this time to take the championship honours at the North of England Club Calf Show held at Thirsk Auction Mart at the weekend.

Their championship winner, who came through as heifer calf champion under judge Emma Hodge of the Rulesmains herd, was Retties Lady Ruth S351. This March-born calf is by Billinge Magic Jack Eric M176 and is out of the Rawburn Elysium F547 daughter, Retties Lady Ruth N259.

Standing reserve to her in both the heifer calf section and to take reserve overall was Adrian and Penny Johnson with Yearly Ellen Erica S248. By Blackhaugh Take Time F610, she’s out of a home bred Rawburn Black Hawk L261 daughter.

Meanwhile in the bull calf championship, top spot went to David and Penny Evans with Tree Bridge Pembroke S611, a son of senior stock sire Abberton Dazzle G160 and out of Tree Bridge Polly Pride K312, a Chapelton Dark Mahmoud E826 daughter.

Standing reserve to him was William and Margaret Taylor with Crook Hill Dicky Windsor S004. By Rawburn Boss Hogg N630 and out of Rawburn Duchess Windsor N770, this one was a class winner at the recent Winter National Show.

Then in the senior championship, top spot went to Retties ACDC R324, again from Richard and Carol Rettie. Born June last year, this one is by the Billinge stock bull and out of the MVBL Lancer daughter, Gordonhall Ava H154.

Reserve to him was David and Penny Evans with Tree Bridge Pastor R570, a son of Nightingale Proud Jake G405 and out of the home bred Tree Bridge Polly Perkins J241, another daughter of Dark Mahmoud.
