Heifers led the way at the the North East England Aberdeen-Angus Club’s Calf Show, with Marsden Farms’ January-born heifer Liley Kinannie R173 picking up the overall calf championship and Owen Tunney’s Morpheus Kristy R025 taking the reserve calf title, under judge Duncan Jeary, Norfolk

Liley Kinannie R173 is a daughter of Rawburn Mambo Prince M499 and out of Rawburn Elmer J921, a Rawburn Lord Ross daughter. She had stood second at the Winter National Show a few weeks earlier and clearly impressed Mr Jeary on the day.

The reserve overall champion, Owen Tunney’s Morpheus Kristy R205 continued the Liley theme, with her sire being Liley Elder M073. She’s out of The Moss Krispy Girl N221, a Galawater Gaffer Geronimo daughter.

Heading up the bull calf championship were Richard and Carol Rettie with their calf Retties Lazy Rascal R308, with the same exhibitors taking reserve with the second place bull from the same class, Retties Lone Ranger R309. Sired by Duncanziemere Edwin J311, he is out of Wall Lady Ruth E397, a Wall Emperor Y222 daughter. The reserve bull champion is a full ET brother to the champion, with both being January-born calves.

The Rettie family were also on winning form in the yearling section, taking the yearling championship with their bull Glenbuchat Kenneth P449. Born in April 2014 he is by Lockerley Kobra H954 and is out of Glenbuchat Kindness G036, a Hardiesmill Everite C016 daughter 

Owen Tunney then took the reserve yearling championship with his winner from the yearling heifer class, Morpheus Lady Luck P018, a Rawburn Double Oseven J985 daughter out of Lockerley Laura D444, an Idviews Jester Eric A057 daughter.
