In the last seven days we’ve been busy with lots of activity, including preparation for this weekend’s YDP Senior Conference in Ireland which is lined up to be a great event! Here is the weekly round-up of the last week:
YDP Senior Conference
Today our budding young farmers have been making their way to Dublin in preparation for the 2018 Senior Conference, an event designed to provide insight and information from all areas in the commercial beef production industry, preparing them for successful future careers. Donnie and Widhill dispersals
Last weekend saw the genuine dispersals of the Donnie and Widhill herds of Aberdeen-Angus, with both doing well under the hammer on the day. The top call of the day came from Felix McDaid’s Donnie Herd for Fenland My Prize, with this Senior Herd Sire who was Male Champion at the Royal Highland Show in 2016 finding favour and selling to 8,000gns to AW & KL Burn, Ellesmere, Shropshire. PENWAC AGM
The PENWAC Club will be holding their AGM at the Best Western Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Club on Sunday 4th March at 11am prompt. After the meeting, at 1pm, there will be a three-course beef lunch available for £16.50 followed by guest speakers Barrie Turner, Chief Executive and Angela McGregor, President of the Society. We received a few enquiries this week for a selection of different things that the membership may have interest in and be able to help with. Firstly, Josje van Iterson is a 19 year old student from the Netherlands seeking a 6 week traineeship. Highland Club AGM
Barrie Turner and Angela McGregor attended the Highland Club AGM on Thursday 22nd February in Tain. It was a great night with a large attendance and many stories of the years activities were shared including the highly successful Northern Exposure event. Congratulations to the Herd competition winners and thanks are extended for the wonderful hospitality.
