December is now upon us and the festive period is just around the corner, and it feels like just yesterday when November got started! Here is your weekly round-up of news from the Society.
The Review:
The official deadline for submitting advert content to Denvir for the Review was today and has now passed. We’d ask that those who have still not submitted their advert do so as promptly as possible. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated and will help a lot with the organisation and development of the full publication. Additionally, we’d ask that any regional clubs who have not yet been in contact with Denvir regarding their regional club report, do so as soon as possible. We look forward to bringing you all the final publication in January!
The Council:
This week has involved a lot of planning and interviewing for the position of Chief Executive, another step to be taken towards helping continue to drive the breed forward. We are speaking to a selection of impressive and exciting candidates, and look forward to keeping all members updated as the appointment process develops in the near future.
We are also preparing for our next Council meeting that takes place in a couple of weeks’ time. We always look at these Council meetings as opportunities for constructive discussion, debate and particularly at this time of year, reflection on the year gone passed. As with the above, we look forward to keeping you updated on developments from the Council meeting in due course.
Royal Welsh Winter Fair:
We told you about a fantastic couple of days had in Wales for the 2017 Royal Welsh Winter Fair, where the Aberdeen-Angus stand was busy from start to finish with lots of positive conversations about the breed. We secured enthusiastic new members and received vast amounts of stock enquiries, along with enquiries about store calf sales. All-in-all, a great time and worthwhile trip to Wales, so thank you to all involved! Dungannon Show and Sale:
Tuesday 5th December will see the Northern Irish Aberdeen-Angus Show and Sale of bulls and females at Dungannon Farmers Mart. The sale will feature 29 bulls and 15 females, with the show taking place at 10.30am and sale at 1pm sharp. We look forward to seeing a lot of you there!
