Friday Update: 19th January

19.01.2018

It’s been an eventful week weather-wise for many up and down the country, but we hope it hasn’t caused too much disruption! It’s been business as usual for all at the Society, so here is your weekly round-up of all activity.

The Review

We’ve received confirmation from the printers that the Review has been printed and is out for distribution to all members throughout the country from Monday 22nd January, so please look out for it arriving through your letterboxes. We’re really excited to share the landmark 100th edition with the membership which we hope you’ll find a great read.

Stirling Bull Sales

Our newly appointed Chief Executive Barrie Turner will be present at the Stirling Bull Sales on the Monday 5th February, so be sure to head along to say hello whilst at United Auctions to take in the Sales, Barrie would be delighted to meet many of you. Don’t forget that on the Sunday evening after the show, the Society will be holding a drinks reception and prize giving ceremony at Dunblane Hydro from 7pm. For more information and how you can register to attend, visit: http://aberdeen-angus.co.uk/news/drinks-reception-and-prize-giving/. We’d love to see as many of you there as possible for what will be a great evening.

Warrenho lift the Warren Trophy

Having told you last week about the Bishops’ success in the 2017 Warren Trophy as the herd receiving the greatest tally of points across all shows with Aberdeen-Angus classes throughout England and Wales, we got the chance to speak to Rob Bishop to learn more about their show season and reaction to winning. Rob said: ‘’It was great to meet many friends old and new during the course of the show season. A lot of people doubt the commercial merits of showing, but having sold three bulls for pedigree breeding during the course of the 2017 showing season, the Warrenho herd see it as their shop window and a great opportunity to combine business with pleasure. It’s a great honour to win the Warren Trophy and we are lucky enough to have won it previously in three consecutive years from 2009-2011’’. Meet the Team

We’re always looking to bring you interview-type pieces on the full team of staff here at Aberdeen-Angus, and this week we brought the latest one with Fiona Flood who works in the registrations department at Pedigree House in Perth. Fiona has worked with the Society for around six years now, having previously worked with husband Louis on their family business, Louis Flood Photographers, who’ve worked a lot with the Society in the past. If you missed it the first time round, you can read more about Fiona, her background and the work she does with the team in the office at: http://aberdeen-angus.co.uk/news/meet-the-team-fiona-flood/.
