Taking the breed section honours at Lurgan Show at the weekend under judge Victor Wallace of the Baronage herd was John and Ann Henning with their April 2009-born bull Drumcorn Egghead J674. By Ballamanagh Estefan, he’s out of the Royal Added Value 19D daughter Egress X53 of Blelack and was reserve male champion at this year’s Balmoral Show. 

Standing reserve was Birches Lady Heather M026 from the Matchett family, a January 2012-born first calver by Carrigroe Fred out of the former show cow Mogeely Lady Hilda H967. This one has had a successful show career and was shown with a Beryl Jamey bull calf at foot.

In the commercial section at the show Sam Matchett was native champion with a Carrigroe Fred sired heifer and also won the young handlers championship.
