It’s been a busy week for the Society, with things getting back on track in the office after the World Angus Forum. This week’s Great Yorkshire Show saw some magnificent cattle on display in the Aberdeen-Angus classes. Here is your Friday update of what’s been going on this week:
Great Yorkshire Show:
The Great Yorkshire Show ran from 11th – 13th July, and earlier today we brought you the full results of what was a range of very competitive Aberdeen-Angus classes with great shows of cattle all round. On this occasion, the breed champion was Linton Gilbertines Rosebud Willabar of the Gordon Brooke Estate, with reserve breed champion also coming from the Gordon Brooke Estate in Linton Gilbertines President. Member survey:
As you are aware, we’re in the process of filling the position of Society Chief Executive. As part of that process, we’d like to gather the opinions of our members with regard to what they feel are the key points the Society needs to focus on in the near future.
This came off the back of a similar survey that some Council members did with their individual clubs, and will help us greatly in selecting the correct candidate for the job who will be able to do the job to the best ability, and with the best interests of the members at heart. As a member, you will receive an email with a link to the survey over the weekend. If you do not receive an email for any reason and wish to participate, please get in touch and we can arrange for you to be sent the link. If you could fill in the short survey soon as possible, it’d be much appreciated.
Other show and sale news:
The Echt Show took place last weekend and on the day, it was the 6 year old cow Mosston Muir Ingrid of Graham Willox, Meikle Pitinnan, Oldmeldrum who was selected as the judge’s champion.
The Autumn bull sales are just a couple of months away, so we’d like to encourage you to get in touch with the Registrations department with the tag numbers of bulls and led females being entered into the sales. This will give the team a chance to make a start on the necessary DNA/MYO processing and ensure the smooth-running of the process – many thanks in advance.

We’d like to take the opportunity to welcome Amy Johnstone to our Pedigree Cattle Services team at the Perth offices. Amy has joined the team recently as an Administrative Assistant, and we look forward to working with her moving forward – welcome Amy!
In the near future, we’ll be sharing the key information that was presented through both the workshops and the individual presentations during the Technical Conference at the World Angus Forum. The Conference gave a great insight into a number of topics related to the beef production industry, so we look forward to sharing this information to the members and hope it’ll be of great value. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as the information is available.
