Aberdeen-Angus leads Carrick multi breed at €4700

The Aberdeen-Angus breed provided the sale topper at the multi-breed bull sales at Carrick On Shannon, Co. Leitrim last weekend, yielding a top price of €4700.

Sale leader was Cannon Park Bestman R327, exhibited by Tom Reynolds, Knockadrinan, Bornacoola, Co. Leitrim. This 12-month old bull stood reserve Aberdeen-Angus champion under judge Victor Wallace of the Baronagh herd in the pre-sale show. He is by the noted AI sire Bunlahy John G and is out of Knockadrinan Bell B224, a Fullham Mr Zeus Z104 daughter.

Pat and Finbarr Cahill, Shankill, Cavan, Co. Cavan took home €3000 for their 14-month old bull Shankill Mintrel P111. This one is by their UK bred stock bull Eastfield Black Buddy K155 and is out of Shankill Mimie B306.

Overall, 35 Aberdeen-Angus bulls sold to average €2430.
