Gretnahouse wins Angus pairs competition at Stirling

Kicking off proceedings here at the breed’s premier show and sale in Stirling was the pairs competition for the best pair of bulls from an exhibitor which Alasdair Houston took top spot with Gretnahouse Jonty N460 (lot 276 and Gretnahouse Samson N645 (lot 283). Jonty is an Auldehouseburn Karlos D218 son and out of the Newcairnie Pastor Z006 daughter Duncanziemere Jody D147. He carries a TSI of +41 and a SRI of +52, while Samson is the first son to be offered by Gretnahouse Blacksmith L500 and is out of the Maplejacks Foggarty B022 daum Wall Samantha F495. Samson was reserve male champion at the Winter National Show in Carlisle on his only outing out. 

In reserve was a pair of bulls from the Whittaker and Co Farms team with Haughton Exclamation N102 (lot 296), a Blelack Blackrod J160 son out of the Wedderlie New Era H573 daughter Flodden Elegant K572, herself a former junior champion at the Great Yorkshire and yearling champion at Agri Expo in 2011. He carries a TSI of +41 and a SRI of +54. Jpining him was Haughton Prime Minister N103 (lot 297), a Hallington Evo L333 son out of Flodden Princess Millie H466, a Carlhurlie Largesse B265 daughter. This one carries a TSI of +37 and a SRI of +51. 

Judging will commence tomorrow at 8am with the females followed by the bulls.
