Reduction Sale of Glen Cowie Herd

Reduction Sale of Glen Cowie Herd

27.08.2018

Following on from the Glen Cowie herd’s success at the 150th Balmoral Show this year, there will be a selection of 9 in-calf heifers, 6 young heifers, 2 cows with calves at foot and 2 young bulls for sale at Ballymena Mart on 14 September 2018. Included in the group of 9 in-calf heifers will be 2 full sisters of this year’s Balmoral Supreme Champion, Taugh Blane Blackbird Special ET S367, a daughter of Rawburn Boss Hogg N630 and bred from Croftburn Blackbird H331, who was described by the Judge as “faultless, and is a fine example of the Aberdeen-Angus breed.”

All 9 heifers are in-calf to Blelack Evolution R454, the Glen Cowie stock bull, who is a son of Acumen Bold Leader 30X and bred from Blelack Evora. He has been running with the cows since the beginning of July. His calves this year, including the calves at foot that will be at the sale, were all calved without any assistance and have the tremendous presence and conformation of a traditional Angus.

Also included in the sale will be the twin heifers from Belhaven Zephyr L370, Best Female at the Highland Show 2017, winning the Harviestoun Cup, and Best opposite sex to the Champion at Balmoral 2017, as are the daughters of ARMS Jackie Erica J508, another top placed cow in Balmoral 2016 and at the All Ireland Aberdeen Angus Championships 2016.

“We’ve had tremendous success at Balmoral and the Highland Show, and I would like to keep them all as they are terrific cattle, but space has forced my hand. They are all well bred from top quality Angus stock and should do exceptionally well. The bulls have great conformation and presence and will make quality stock bulls” says Iain Colville.”

The sale will take place at Ballymena Livestock Market on 14 September 2018 at 12.30. For further details contact Sam McNabney on 028 25 633470.
