Woodston Aphrodite wins Royal Welsh Show

There may only have been a limited amount of Aberdeen-Angus cattle forward for judge David Lucas to sort out at the Royal Welsh Show, but he was the first to admit he found a real cracker in his champion.

Woodston Aphrodite

Leading the way in the yearling heifer class and female championship before taking the overall championship ticket was Calum Hillhouse of Woodston Manor Partnership, Tenbury Wells, Worcs, with Woodston Aphrodite. Born January 2009, she is by Rawburn Rock Solid F544, who is full brother to Rawburn Rommel and Rawburn Randolph, and she is out of Glympton Aphrodite, a cow purchased privately from Glympton Estates while carrying this heifer.

Having stood first at this year’s Bath and West Show, as well as junior native champion, she will next head to a couple of local shows before hopefully being sold privately, as Mr Hillhouse only runs 16 cows so often offers the odd female for sale.Judge David Lucas described this heifer as being: “a sweet and very stylish heifer. She is incredibly correct and is a heifer I would be proud to have in my herd.”

Oakchurch Diplomat

Taking the reserve championship was the overall male champion Oakchurch Diplomat J118 from Jeremy Price, Staunton-on-Wye, Hereford. By Oakchurch Dominator G035, he is out of the Rawburn No Limits sired daughter Oakchurch Red Delia F021.
