Warrenho Dalmigavie

Forfar Stars of the Future Calf Show

I really enjoyed judging the Royal Cornwall show and must thank the exhibiters and members of the south west for putting on a good show of cattle and making Karen and I feel so welcome.
The show its self is a good agricultural show with lots interesting stands and the show of livestock is of a high standard, adding the beautiful countryside and the hospitality this show is a must for people.
As for the Show the three classes of females were of a high standard. Though there wasnt many bulls it was the Male Champion I picked Supreme – this young bull is not two yet but never the less had great presence, with good breed character and bone combined with length, a good top line and backside.
My Reserve was a two year old heifer again a nice smooth fleshed female with good depth of body my main concern with her was that at 30 months of age she didnt have a calf at foot or showing signs of coming near to calving. Though I understand many people dont like calving at two years of age I felt this heifer was well enough grown to have had a calf.
Congratulations must go to the Bishop family, Mark Pilcher and Colin Hutchings for there success in the Interbreeds.

Hi William
Thanks so much for your comments – it’s fantastic to get feedback from judges and I hope this encourages more Aberdeen-Angus judges to come on here and comment following their stint in the middle of the ring! I’m still yet to get down to Cornwall Show but between persuassion from Gayle and your comments I will be going next year for sure!
