Results from Agri-Live Smithfield
Taking the first class of Aberdeen-Angus this morning at Agri-Live was Harry Emslie, Aberdeen, with his January 2009 Angus x British Blue x Simmental Black Beauty 1, shown by Chrissie Lawrence. This one is by Lissduff Dukey and was bred by James Alexander, CO Antrim. She was bought last summer when Harry saw her after being placed commercial champion at Clogher Valley Show.


Black Beauty 1 in the Aberdeen-Angus heifer calf class
Second in this class was Michael Kirby with his reserve champion pedigree champion from the English Winter Fair, Lockerley Black Butterfly.
Following on the prize tickets for the Aberdeen-Angus cattle was nine month old steer from M and H D Currie, Dumfries, who stood second in the native steer class up to 486kg This one is by Drumawhey Boris and out of Diana 17 of Luckiesheil.
In the 489 to 560kg class the Currie family were back in the prizes again with Del Boy, by Drumawhey Boris and out of Kingholm Equidora walked away with the first prize.
In the native steer class for weight range 540 to 580kg Scott Innes won with Mctavish, an Angus x Limousin steer sired by Flodden warrior and bred by D and m Ross, while George and Aileen McFadzean stood second with Dangerous Drummond by Aynho Beck. This one weighed 554kg. The couple also stood first and second in the steer class for 580kg and above.

Thanks both – she did really well. It was shame that they had split the steers in to light, middle and heavy yet the heifers were all in the ring together – must have been about 20 heifers come out for the championship. BB1 made the first short lead in to 10 but we went no further, simply over powered by the other stock – only native to make the short lead though so that was great. Team AA had a wonderful day though – well done to the Innes, MacFadzean and Kirby clan for bringing home the prizes – it was great to give the Continental boys a run for their money!

calf looking very well congrats to all involved, Nice to see her do so well for everyone especially Harry and Jalex that the plan of going to smithfield to win came off . C’ mon IRISH ABERDEEN ANGUS
