Netherton Fleur takes Highland championship

A few tears of joy are being shared in the McLaren family today as William McLaren has just been tapped out overall breed champion under judge John Coultrip with Netherton Fleur D334, a daughter of Netherton Royal Sovereign A072 who bred the 30,000gns Netherton Figo is out of Netherton Fleur Y298 who was sold in 2004 for 20,000gns.

This is the first time in eight years the McLarens have shown at the Highland and according to daughter Seonaid, “his kids encouraged him to come back to the show and compete!” Fleur has already taken a reserve breed championship at Drumen Show.

John described his champion as: “a cow very hard to find fault in, she’s clean, balanced, feminine and moves very well with minimum waste.”

She took the championship ahead of the overall junior champion Blelack Blackbird H073 from Neil and Graeme Massie. John described his reserve champion as: “a very classy heifer with great flesh.”
