Mosston Muir Elsie champion at Kelso

After the rain of Friday evening nobody knew what the weather would bring for the cattle classes on Saturday morning (July 25th), however, the Border Union Show proved lucky again and the sun shone for the show.

Leading the Aberdeen-Angus classes was Tom Rennie’s Mosston Muir Elsie sired by FAR Krugerrand 410H and out of Mosston Muir Eline. This five year old cow took the female championship and beat Messrs J Gilmour’s Male Champion Muirhall Double Edition for the overall championship.

The senior bull class was won by Muirhall Double Edition for Messrs J Gilmour, followed by Tom Rennie’s Hallington Walter and in third place stood Moira Hall’s Rosemead Private.

Ewan Brewis led the yearling bull class with Eastfield Black Bandit, Messrs J Gilmour stood second with Belhaven Rhetorical and in third was Kersquarter Ebony for Kersquarter Aberdeen-Angus.

There was only one cow in the cow class, Mosston Muir Elsie.  Leading the senior heifer class was Messrs J Gilmour with Belhaven Eston Anne, second to her was Rawburn Estinina from the firm of T Hodge and in third was Stuart Addison’s Castlegate Euxette by Drumdow Proud Peacock, out of Idvies Euxette.

The yearling heifer class was won by Belhaven Roisseau, followed by Rulesmains Evergreen from the Firm of T Hodge and in third was a daughter of the champion cow Mosston Muir Eline.

The best group of three (one male and two females was won by Messrs J Gilmour, with Tom Rennie second and Ewan Brewis third.
