More success for Aberdeen-Angus at AgriLive Smithfield

Who says the Continental breeds get it all their own way on the fatstock circuit? More results came the way of the Aberdeen-Angus breeders at yesterday’s AgriLive championships with 18 year old Scott Innes’ Aberdeen-Angus x Limousin steer McTavish being tapped out at reserve intermediate weight steer under judge Neil Caul.

The breed then went one better with George and Aileen MacFadzean’s purebred steer Cherrybank Elrick H566 being tapped out as winner of the highly sort after Queen’s Cup for the best native champion.

And the championship honours continued to come the way of the Aberdeen-Angus breed as this steer as well as the MacFadzean’s other pedigree steer Dangerous Drummond teamed up with Miachel Kirby’s second prize heifer Lockerley Black Butterfly to take the Duke of Norfolk trophy for the best purebred group of three.
