Matchett’s do well in Angus classes at NI Commercial Show at Moira

Standing top of the line up in the Aberdeen-Angus classes at the Northern Ireland Commercial Cattle Exhibitors Club Show held at Moira last week was Sam and Sarah Matchett with their crossbred heifer Black Beauty 2. Bred by James Alexander, Co Antrim, she is by Lisduff Dukey and has already taken the commercial championship at Lurgan earlier in the year.

The young Angus enthusiasts then took the reserve in the breed section with their steer Black Buddy. This one is by Lisduff Dickie and was bred by Noel Hook. He stood reserve to Black Beauty at Lurgan as well.

In the overall heavy weight heifer classes, Black Beauty stood second to the overall champion. Both exhibits were in the capable hands of YDP member Jack Smyth who was showing for the Matchett’s while they were away in Dorset at a wedding.
