Jalex Aberdeen-Angus commercials continue winning form
Leading Northern Irish commercial cattle producer and showman James Alexander was back in winning form this week when he had a landslide victory at Allam’s Christmas Show claiming both the Champion and Reserve Champion Aberdeen-Angus-sired exhibits. There was a real buzz at Northern Ireland’s Premier fat stock event with a super show of stock right across the boards.

James Alexander won the Aberdeen Angus Championship at Allams with Black Beauty 2. This was one of 10 entries forward from the Jalex herd, and later sold for £2300.
The Aberdeen-Angus Champion was “Jalex Black Beauty 2″ who is no stranger to success in the show ring having won first prize at Omagh en route to lifting the pairs championship at the NI Commercial Cattle Exhibitors Show at Moira with her twin sister Black Beauty 1, who will be making an appearance for new owner Harry Emslie later this month at Smithfield AgriLive.
The Jalex herd is sweeping the boards in the Aberdeen Angus classes this year with calves by the Dalrene Cruz son Lisduff Duke. There was plenty of interest come sale time for this super young heifer, with the hammer falling at £2300. Her new owner is Nigel Matchett, best known for his successful beef enterprises at Portadown and on the west coast of Scotland. Black Beauty 2 is destined to cross the Irish Sea to reside in Scotland so keep an eye out for her in 2010.
