Henning family take fourth championship this year

Livestock classes made a welcome return to Newry Show this year as the threat of brucellosis forced event organisers to cancel beef and dairy classes last year.

This year’s show was a particularly memorable event for John and Ann Henning, who took their fourth championship of the year, this time with their six year old cow Drumlister Willow. Shown with her four month old heifer calf at foot, Willow was bred by Robert Campbell, Co Down and is by Idvies Euro Y173 out of Virginia of Drumlister. Willow was reserve champion at the Royal Ulster Show last year and took the breed championship at Lurgan recently.

Taking the reserve spot was young Sam Matchett, Portadown, with his junior bull Cloghogue Evolution. This one is by Coneyisland Legend E112 out ofCloghogue Ersula.
