Drumcorn Ergessa interbreed champion at Antrim Show

Beef cattle entries were strong at Saturday’s Antrim Show.

Having won the Aberdeen-Angus breed section under judge David Dickson of the Mossbrook herd, Drumcorn Ergessa C265, the six year old home-bred cow from John and Ann Henning, Moira, Co Armagh, also caught the eye of interbreed judge and Charolais breeder John Currie to take the overall top spot.

Sired by Ballamanaugh Estefan and out of a Royal Added Value daughter from Blelack that is breeding very well at Drumcorn, she has already won the Breed Championship at Ballymena & Saintfield this year

She also won a number of titles in 2008 including Breed Champion at Saintfield and Castlewellan.

Taking the reserve Aberdeen-Angus spot was Toyes Hill Fauna G217 from Brian Ballnetine, Co Londonderry. This may 2007 heifer is by Ankonian Elixir 100 out of Netherton Flora B162, a Ranui Impact daughter.
