Melview Angus secures half share in Blelack-bred bull

03.02.2017

Melview Angus is delighted to announce the purchase of a 50% share of one of the most interesting bulls in the breed today, Blelack Dynamite N201, from his breeders Neil and Graeme Massie at Blelack, Dinnet, Aberdeenshire. The bull is now housed at Melview in Dymock, Glos, and has already produced viable semen that will be brought to the market in Spring 2017.

Dynamite is no stranger to success after being reserve junior champion at the Stirling Bull Sales in February 2015. The plan now according to Paul Westaway of Melview is to show Duynamite at the National Summer Show at Royal Three Counties and the Royal Highland, both of which are in June 2017, as part of the World Angus Forum. Dynamite already has some exciting progeny at Blelack and his first son, Blelack Equador R549, will offered for sale at Monday’s Stirling Bull Sales.

Commenting on the purchase, Paul said “I have been a great admirer of this bull since the first time I saw him and I am delighted to be working with Neil and Graeme as partners in bringing his genetics to the world. His pedigree, EBVs and phenotype make him an ideal candidate to join our breeding programme. His sire, Netherallan Peter Pershore E052, is a global legend and his dam, Ballyheather Dolly Z682, can be found in many of the pedigrees of the very best young cows in the UK today, including multiple show winners.”

Dynamite’s breeder Graeme Massie adds: “We are really looking forward to working with Paul and the team at Melview to make Dynamite’s genetics available to breeders both here in the UK and globally. The bull is a fantastic animal himself and is a great representative of our breeding goals and objectives at Blelack.”
