Saturday’s reduction sale from the Aberdeenshire-based Bruce family’s Logie herd of Aberdeen-Angus saw a top call of 8000gns paid for the 2010-born cow Logie Eyebright K022.

This May 2010-born daughter of Logie Banner G608 is out of Logie Eyebright F481, a Blelack Blackstaff Y288 daughter and sold with her heifer calf, Logie Eyebright S625, at foot. Herself a Blelack Evril K554 daughter. She found a new home with A J R Fasteners Ltd, Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

Following her came a bid of 4400gns for Logie Elegant M284, a 2012-born second calver by the successful show bull Idvies Kolla J431. She is out of Heathlands Elegant X16, a KBJ Preferred Stock 69D daughter and sold with a heifer calf at foot by Idvies Eugene N578, Logie Elegant S647. This one was the pick of G V Jones, Edern, Pwllheli.

Then came a 4000gns call for one of the herd’s stock bull, Blelack Evril K554. He’s a son of Netherallan Peter Pershore E052 out of Blelack Evora Z491, an HF Ricochet daughter and sold with a TSI of +47 and an SRI of +58. He was taken by the Brown family for their Drumdow herd, Ayrshire.

Selling at 3000gns was Logie Evangelina M276, another Idvies Kollar J431 daughter this time out of Logie Evangelina C197, a Netherton Edwin Y329 daughter. A 2012-born second calver, this one sold with her heifer calf, Logie Evangelina S623, at foot and having run with Idvies Eugene N578. She was knocked down to R C Turnbull, Coxwold, York.

Two more then sold at the same price, with the first being Logie Jewel Erica M303, a Blelack Lord Hildalgo H972 daughter out of Logie Jewel Erica J754, herself a Nightingale Poldark E287 daughter. Sold with her heifer calf by Idvies Eugene at foot, she was bought by previous buyers A J R Fasteners.

The final 3000gns call came later in the sale for Logie Delia P350, a Rawburn Enoch sired November 2014-born heifer. She is out of Logie Delia M187, a Netherallan Peter Pershore E052 daughter and was the pick of Stewart Craft, Glenrothes.

Just shy of that at 2900gns was Logie Princess Edwina K893, a fourth calver by Cardona Picador E407. This one is out of the Netherton Edwin Y329 sired Logie Princess Edwina C192 and sold with a heifer calf, Logie Princess Edwina S636, at foot and found a new home with W Wilcox, Huntly, Aberdeenshire.

And making 2800gns was Logie Ermine H692, a 2008-born cow. This Nightingale D’Arcy F316 daughter is out of Logie Ermine E378, a Lochwood Enchantment Z002 daughter and sold with her heifer calf, Logie Ermine S643 at foot. She was the pick of A J R Fasteners.

Collective sale

Outwith the Logie reduction sale, other Aberdeen-Angus females on offer on the same day peaked at 2800gns for Balsar Karama Chicha L101 from P H and R M Close. This 2011-born cow is by Balsar Proud Traveller J070 and out of Balsar Karam Chacha J058. She sold with a bull calf at foot by Balsar Kingdom N147 and was taken by J S Fleming, Glenluce.

Then at 2500gns was the next in, Balsar Eveblynette M113 from the same home. This Balsar Klondyke K078 daughter is out of Balsar Eve K077, a Nightingale Kruncher D210 daughter and also sold with a bull calf at foot by Balsar Evergreen S191. She sold to A Mitchell, Biggar.
