Aberdeen-Angus store cattle in hot demand

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their fortnightly sale of 115 store cattle and suckler calves on Tuesday 14th February 2017. Once again, a busy ringside of buyers at Longtown which ensured cattle easily maintained recent high rates. The sale topped at £1160 (x3) and £1125 (x2) for Aberdeen-Angus bullocks from Fiona Gibson, Southwoodhead. 

Aberdeen-Angus heifers were also in demand selling to a top of £1005 from Espland and £720 (x2) from Spadeadam

Meanwhile at Hexham, the Market’s Native Breed day saw an Aberdeen-Angus cross steer top trade at 22 months of age at £1480 for Ian and David Storey, Portland. This one sold with many others on the day to Fraser Scott, Morpeth. Eight in total from the father and son team averaged £1342.
