National Show sees more than 100 entries and some serious competition in the female classes

showposter2009This year’s Aberdeen-Angus National Show, held in conjunction with the Royal County of Berkshire Show on 19-20th September, will witness some serious competition going on, particularly in the female classes.

Exhibitors have come from as far afield as Scotland, Cornwall, Cumbria, Gloucestershire, North Yorkshire and Suffolk.

Judge for the day Neil Massie of the Blelack herd will certainly have his work cut out. At the close of entries, more than 100 cattle have been put forward to compete for the championship prize find of £1000 on behalf of the Certified Aberdeen-Angus Scheme.

The first two bull classes of the day will see three bulls fight it out, while there are 15 forward for the 1 Jan-31 Mar 2008 class.

The senior cow class will equally be a tough class to judge and should be of an incredibly high standard, as there are 14 forward, some of which have already picked up their fair share of red rosettes already this year.

The heifer classes are equally going to strong classes, with anything between 8 and 14 forward for each class. The calf classes will see 10 forward for the heifer class, while 19 bull calves are currently entered for the bull calf born in 2009 class.

Providing modern technology doesn’t let us down, we will of course bringing you live coverage from the ring side on the website, so for those of you who can’t make the show, be sure to keep your computers turned on during the day.

The Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society would like to thank our sponsors; Waitrose, Dovecote Park and Gerald Shearing Livestock supplies  for their generous support and look forward to seeing you all at the Newbury showground in September. Judgng starts at 9am on the 19th September.
