Demand for Aberdeen-Angus Sired Cattle:
Anne Morrison, Aberdeen-Angus Quality Beef Ltd, delivers great news surrounding the popularity and preference of Aberdeen-Angus beef. AAQB is calling for more members as demand for Aberdeen-Angus sired cattle is strong with a 40p a kilo premium paid on ‘in spec’ cattle. Youth Development Programme:
We recently saw the final YDP workshop of the year take place at Melview Angus, Gamage Hall Farm, Dymock on the 20th of August.

We would also like to remind you all that raffle tickets are still available to buy in support of the Youth Development Programme. This is a great way to help raise funds that will go towards the programme and also to win some great prizes, including a pedigree heifer from the Newcairnie herd, kindly donated by current senior vice president Angela McGregor. 2017 National Ploughing Championships:
The Irish Aberdeen-Angus Association will be hosting the very best of the top pedigree and commercial Aberdeen-Angus cattle at the 2017 National Ploughing Championships from September 19th – 21st. Several of the big winners from the pedigree show circuit have already been confirmed to attend, alongside a selection of the very best crossbred stock from the leading commercial herds in the country. The results are still coming in for this year’s show season.
Saintfield Show was held on Saturday the 17th June. The Aberdeen-Angus champion was awarded to Gail and Sam Matchett with Briches Lady Holly.

Brian Johnston, Scarva, exhibited the reserve Aberdeen-Angus champion Dartrey Ella.

Omagh Show took place on 30 June and Saturday 1 July and the Aberdeen-Angus classes were judged by Conor Craig. Gemma Parke, Strabane, exhibited the Aberdeen Angus champion Coolermoney Rocco.

Limavady Show, took place on Saturday the 15th of July. Andy Woodburn judged the Aberdeen-Angus classes and awarded the overall champion prize to Coolermoney Rocco S607 and the reserve champion prize to Coolermoney Frances T703, both from Adrian and Graeme Parke.
Antrim Show, sponsored by the Bank of Ireland, took place on Saturday 22 July. Gail Matchett exhibited the Aberdeen-Angus champion Cheeklaw Black Beauty N458.

AJ Mills, Scarva, exhibited the reserve Aberdeen-Angus champion Dartrey Ella.

Clogher Valley Show was held on the 26th of July. Ian Rea exhibited the Aberdeen-Angus champion Carlhurlie Epic owned by James Porter’s Old Glenort Herd.

William Noble, Danske Bank, presented the Aberdeen-Angus championship award to Alan and Lana Cheney from Trillick who exhibited Lana Juno Erica at this year’s Fermanagh County Show took place on the 1st and 2nd of August. The reserve championship was awarded to Edwin and Alan Morrison from Maguiresbridge with Drummeer Blackbird P455.
The 150th Bucks County Show took place on the 31st of August 2017 and all Aberdeen-Angus classes were judged by Mr D Jeary. The overall Champion was awarded to Temple Rosebud R653, Temple Farm (Chedzoy) ltd and the reserve champion went to Warrenho Elmolo L39 from A E & C R Bishop.
