Friday update: 2nd March 2018

02.03.2018

In a week where the weather has caused torment up and down the country, we hope all are well, staying warm and are getting on top of thawing the water pipes! The staff have managed to plough through the snow most days to get into the office, but today has been challenging with only a few making it into Pedigree House. Here is the weekly round-up of activity from the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society.

YDP – Senior Conference

A number of our Youth Development Programme participants made their way to Ireland last weekend for their 2018 Senior Conference, an event which is much anticipated year-on-year. Newly appointed CEO of the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society, Barrie Turner and recently elected President of the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society, Angela McGregor were both in attendance for the event and congratulated the Youth Development Programme on an excellent weekend and complimented all of the youngsters involved. The event featured some very educational, interesting and practical farm visits, along with the Conference itself which took place at the Central Hotel, Tullamore with an exceptional line-up of distinguished speakers from a variety of agricultural disciplines. There was also plenty of time to relax and socialise, with a chance to take in a good bit of Six Nations Rugby too! We must thank our long-term sponsor, Dawn Meats, with particular thanks to Sarah Haire who was instrumental in the organisation of the weekend alongside programme co-ordinator Gayle Bersey whose efforts, as always, are greatly appreciated. Thanks to all involved in a great weekend, which you can read a full report about at: http://aberdeen-angus.co.uk/news/youth-development-programme-2018-senior-conference-comes-to-ireland/.
