The Winter weather has well and truly introduced itself in the last few weeks, and things are as busy as ever here at the Society, despite the odd bit of snow! Here is your weekly round-up to keep you up to speed with all activity.

The Review 100th Edition:

Today was the official deadline for submitting booking forms to secure advert space in the Review, so we’d like to thank all who have done so. Please remember that the deadline for submitting advert artwork is the 1st December as Denvir have communicated for each individual booking. We understand how busy everyone is at this time of year, but would ask that you strive to stick by these timelines in order to allow for effective management and development of the full publication.

All regional club secretaries have also been contacted requesting their Regional News Reports for the Review, so please ensure that these are completed and sent in promptly. We’re excited to bring you this landmark 100th edition of our Review, and thank you for your co-operation with its compilation.

Scotland’s National Meat Exhibition:

Scotland’s National Meat Exhibition took place last weekend in Bridge of Allan in association with the Scottish National Fat Stock Club. On the day, it was an Aberdeen-Angus cross steer that came out on top in competition with 300 entries of all beef breeds. This overall champion was a 372.5kg carcase from smallholders S Ewart and Sons of Blairgowrie in Perthshire who have been exhibiting at the event for the last 24 years, making a lovely success story. You can read the full record of proceedings at: http://www.aberdeen-angus.co.uk/news/aberdeen-angus-triumph-at-scotlands-national-meat-exhibition-2017/.

An interview with a former YDP winner:

We spoke in some depth to Duncan Morrison, a former YDP participant and winner who has gone on to see great personal success. If you haven’t already done so, we’d highly recommend casting your eyes over Duncan’s piece for some great insight into his work, experiences here and overseas, and recommendations to any budding youngsters. You can access the piece at: http://www.aberdeen-angus.co.uk/news/duncan-morrison-an-interview-with-a-former-ydp-winner/.

North East of England herd competition:

We brought you the North East of England Aberdeen-Angus Club 2017 herd results this week which saw the Housestead Herd of the Acton Family crowned as overall large herd, with Crook Hill of Mr and Mrs Taylor taking the title of overall small herd. Society representatives including president Alex Sanger will be present at the Welsh Winter Fayre on Monday and Tuesday of next week, so we hope to see many of you at the event. We will have some animals on show and would love for you to stop by the Society stand for a chat and a coffee!
