Details now available for English National Calf Show

calf-headThis year’s Aberdeen-Angus English National Calf Show will take place on the 30th October 2009 in conjunction with Harrison and Hetherington’s Borderway Agri Expo event.

The Calf Show will see a change to proceedings as classes will follow a similar line to the Society’s Black Beauty event. Judge for the day will be Alastair Fraser of Forfar, Angus, owner of the Idvies pedigree herd.

Classes will follow as:

YEARLING HEIFER born 1 Jan through 31 July 2008

YEARLING HEIFER born 1 August through 31 December 2008

YEARLING BULL born 1 Jan through 31 July 2008

YEARLING BULL born 1 August through 31 December 2008

HEIFER CALF born Jan and Feb 2009

HEIFER CALF born March 2009

HEIFER CALF born April onwards 2009

BULL CALF born Jan and Feb 2009

BULL CALF born March 2009

BULL CALF born April onwards 2009

Classes may be split depending on entries.

Judging will start at 11.00am on Friday.  Calves can be accommodated overnight at Borderway on Thursday but must vacate the Mart by Friday evening.

Also at the event, the Aberdeen-Angus Youth Development Programme will hold the final which will see another change of format where this year a non Aberdeen Angus breeder will take to the centre of the ring to place the finalists. Judge for this year will be Simmental breeder Bridget Borlase, who owns the Sacombe herd based in Hertfordshire.

Bridget herself has been part of the Simmental Young Breeders programme and has trained many members across the south of England in the art of showing and stock judging.
