2017 National Ploughing Championships

05.09.2017

The Irish Aberdeen-Angus Association will be hosting the very best of the top pedigree and commercial Aberdeen-Angus cattle at this year’s National Ploughing Championships at Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly from September 19th – 21st inclusive. Several of the big winners from the pedigree show circuit, including some of the junior and senior champions from both the All-Ireland Aberdeen-Angus finals and the National Livestock Show, Tullamore have been confirmed to attend, alongside a selection of the very best crossbred stock from the leading commercial herds in the country. The Irish Aberdeen-Angus Association is delighted to announce that a mobile catering unit, serving premium Irish Aberdeen-Angus beef, will also be in operation adjacent to the stand throughout the three days. This is a new initiative for the 2017 championships and offers attendees the chance to sample the world-renowned Aberdeen-Angus beef for themselves.

On the back of the runaway success of the World Angus Forum which visited Ireland for the first time in nearly 40 years over the summer, the Irish Aberdeen-Angus Association is looking to cap an already memorable and hugely successful year in style with its annual showcase at the National Ploughing Championships. In addition to the top quality exhibition of cattle on the stand itself, Mr. Alan Cheney, President of the Irish Aberdeen-Angus Association, along with many of the Society officers, from both Ireland and the UK, will be in attendance over the three-day long event to meet and chat with the membership.

The National Ploughing Championships will be the first major event for the Irish Aberdeen-Angus Association this Autumn, preceding the National Aberdeen-Angus Calf Show which is due to take place on Saturday, October 14th at the new venue of Carrick-On-Shannon, Co. Leitrim and the annual Premier Autumn Sale, also taking place at Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday, November 11th. This sale will comprise of 40 lots (bulls and heifers) and it is hoped that several of the cattle scheduled to be offered for sale will be on show at this year’s National Ploughing Championships – another great reason to visit the Irish Aberdeen-Angus Association stand from September 19th – 21st!
