Tonley herd secures Stirling October championship

The Aberdeenshire-based Tonley herd of father and son team Neil and Mark Wattie have secured the overall championship in Stirling today, having come through as junior champion under judge Ian Mathers. 

Their leader was the April 2013-born Tonley Pato N938 (lot 52), a Blelack Evor H929 son out of the Hurdcott Elixier E215 daughter Tonley Princess K729. With a TSI of +44 and a SRI of +51. this one was first and reserve male champion at Turriff Show earlier in the summer. 

Reserve to him having secured the intermediate championship was Idvies Johnston Eric N588 (lot 33) from Alastair and Graeme Fraser. Born March 2013, Eric is the first son to be offered by the privately purchased senior herd sire Shadwell Black Broughton K485 and is out of the Rawburn Rommel E423 daughter Idvies Juana Erica Z006 who is full sister to the 20,000gns Idvies Jarvis Eric J427, February 2011 champion. 

In the senior championship it was a win for Messrs Bruce and Partners with Logie Prize Bruce N328 (lot 28). Born February 2013, this one is by the Deveron Latimer G188 son Glenbuchat Bruce K149 and is out of the Logie Darius E382 daughter Logie Panache H701. he has a milk figure of +11 and a SRI of +41. 

Standing reserve to him was Victor and Paula Dobson with Water End Payton N108 (lot 14). This January 2013-born son of former herd sire Blelack Evergreat H003, is out of the The Moss Mr Essen D413 daughter Water End Prudance H069, herself out of Dacre Princess A055.

Standing reserve intermediate champion was Alexander Norrie’s Wrae Proud Innsbruck N232 (lot 39), a March 2013-born Borewell Eastern Flame J389 and out of the Lord Stockton X48 of Tullyfergus daughter Wrae Proud Ilene J144, who is out of Cardona Proud Ilus A139, dam of the February 2007 champion Wrae Proud Imperial.

Meanwhile, the reserve junior honours went to the second prize Cairnton Blackcap N355 (lot 53) from Ken Howie. This April 2013-born Blelack Kanasta Lad G191 son is out of the Oakchurch Dominator G035 daughter Blelack Blackcap K379, who was purchased at the Blelack reduction sale. This one carries a SRi of +50. 

The Group of Three class was won by the Blelack team consisting of the second prize Blelack Jasper Eric N187 (lot 69), the third place Blelack Bonanza N167 and the fourth prize Blelack Black Bollanger N087, all by the Peter Pershore son Blelack Equity.
